Horst and Joann Glagowski Horst Ernst Glagowski (Horsie) was born in 1920, in Koenigsburg, East Prussia (considered German territory between WW1 and WW2). In 1927 his immediate family emigrated to Dayton, OH, USA where he grew up and attended Co-Op High School. In 1938 he graduated as Valedictorian began work at National Cash Register, Co. (NCR) where he met Joann and worked his way up from messenger boy to Director of Engineering Services by 1960. Romance was rudely interrupted by WW2 when he was drafted by the Navy, but they were married during a military leave in 1946. He studied engineering in the NCR night school and passed the Professional Engineering License exam in 1959. After NCR, he worked for a number of small to medium sized manufacturing companies in Richmond, IN, Valdosta, GA, Northern New Jersey, Connecticut, and South Carolina. He returned to Connecticut once again and retired in 1980 to Milford, CT. Tired of the hustle and bustle of Fairfield County, he and Joann moved to Wolfeboro, NH on Lake Winnepesaukee where they lived until the summer of 1999. To make life easier, they sold their residence and now live in a retirement community in Whitinsville, MA (Northbridge) where they can be contacted at: Horst E. Glagowski (Father) |
